Last year Hall’s implemented tablets in their Intermodal business in order to improve job processing and provide drivers with new tools including electronic manifests, email documentation, the ability to take photos, navigation via Google Maps and electronic log books. These upgrades have brought a number of benefits for the Hall’s team and those who work closely with them, as we do, such as more consistent job entry, more efficient communication, and improvements in processing.
The tablets are rugged Samsung Tab Active 8’s running Android – designed to withstand temperature extremes and the odd drop or jolt. Hall’s systems operate via Vodafone’s 3G network, enabling over-the-air updates and remote device management for support purposes. A second phase of development is planned to deliver further features.
“We have been seeing great benefits already for our own customers. We’re proud to be partnering with a market leader in Halls Transport, and extremely excited by this new technology. We are confident that it is going to raise our customer service standards even higher by enabling real time information flow, meaning we can provide accurate uplift and delivery times – which are absolutely crucial to our customers”.
